Welcome to the website of the Indo-German Association for Legal Cooperation (IGAL). Thank you for your interest!
IGAL was jointly conceptualised as an idea by two lawyers - Christian Hirte, Member of German Parliament and Nalin Kohli, National Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This idea took formal shape when IGAL was launched in November 2017 by high-level representatives from law, politics and civil society in Berlin, graciously hosted by the Indian Embassy and with support from the Konrad Adenaeur Foundation.
IGAL seeks to build bridges between the Republic of India and the Federal Republic of Germany by creating a networking forum for lawyers, legal luminaries, political personalities and business leaders.
The primary objective of IGAL is to establish a platform where stakeholders can regularly share views related to legal frameworks, statutory requirements, dispute resolution, business practices, investment opportunities, sharing of information, among other areas of mutual interest. Such interaction will help foster a stronger bond between professionals and businesses in both countries. This in turn enables investor clients undertake more informed and considered decisions particularly among smaller and family owned business entities.

Dr. Holger J. Jakob is partner at FPS Fritze Wicke Seelig Partnerschaftsgesellschaft von Rechtsanwälten mbB (FPS) and advises in corporate law, tax law and insolvency law
He has vast experience in supporting mainly medium-sized companies regarding incorporation, restructuring, merger and demerger, M&A transactions and reorganization matters. In the field of tax law, he has vast experience in tax planning and structuring, representation in tax audits and tax litigation proceedings.
Furthermore he posesses many years of experience as insolvency administrator (Insolvenz- verwalter) as well as a qualification as certified public accountant (vereidigter Buchprüfer).
Dr. Jakob was assistant professor (Lehrbeauftragter) for corporate law at Fulda University of Applied Science for many years, and for VAT at the Fachhochschule für Ökonomie & Management. He regularly holds lectures and courses, in particular relating to company succession.

Nalin is a leading advocate and an eminent political personality. He regularly argues cases on various matters including constitutional issues, contracts, arbitration, tax related appeals, civil and criminal matters including related to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED) & Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), environment related issues, service matters, education, other areas of civil law including land related disputes, defence services, among others.
Nalin is the National Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the ruling political party in India. He is also a member of the National Executive of the BJP and the party in-charge for the State of Nagaland.
